Ionescu, 26, drained 37 points in the final round of the WNBA contest in 2023, breaking the record for men’s and women’s competitions.

The sharpshooter missed her first attempt before nailing her next 16 consecutive jumpers.

Previously, Curry and Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton had the best rounds in the 3-point competition in 2021 and 2023, respectively, with both netting 31 points.

But before the Golden State Warriors matchup with the Sacramento Kings on TNT, the NBA’s all-time 3-point field goal maker was mic’d up, previewing a potential crossover possibility with Ionescu.

“Yo,” Curry said to rookie teammate Brandin Podziemski in pregame shootaround, nabbing his attention.

“Do you know who holds the record for the most points in a 3-point competition?”

Despite the impromptu quiz, Podziemski passed with flying colors.

“Sabrina,” he replied.

“Ohh,” Steph said in excitement, happy his teammate knew the answer.

“I think I gotta bring her out… we gotta settle this once and for all.

“I think I gotta challenge her.”

After the Warriors one-point 134-133 defeat to the Kings on primetime, Curry’s pregame hint became reality.

Shams Charania announced that an “exciting” 3-point competition between Curry and Ionescu is in the works at All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis.

NBA All-Star weekend in 2024 will occur in Indianapolis from February 16-18.

The 3-point competition is on Saturday, February 17.

The 73rd NBA All-Star Game wraps up the weekend and is the following day on Sunday, February 18.
