Initially, Tabar’s efforts bore some resemblance to her idol, but over time, her transformation veered into a caricature.
As Tabar’s lips and cheekbones became increasingly exaggerated, internet users began dubbing her “zombie Angelina.” Despite the unconventional attention, Tabar embraced her online persona, sharing increasingly bold photos. However, Tabar’s newfound popularity attracted the attention of Iranian authorities, operating within a strict legal framework with limited women’s rights. Considered a potential threat to young people and accused of blasphemy and inciting violence, Tabar was arrested in 2019 and sentenced to a decade in prison.
