Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hopes teammate Travis Kelce’s non-touchdown lateral is shown when the 34-year-old is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
‘It’s a legendary moment, man. It’s not taught,’ Mahomes said. ‘Something that only a couple people in this world would even think about doing.’
‘For him to make that play in that moment — making the play, making the catch, making a couple dudes miss and then throwing the ball across the field to another guy and scoring a touchdown in that moment — I hope they still show it whenever he goes into the Hall of Fame,’ Mahomes added.
‘Because that’s a legendary moment that we didn’t really get to witness.’
The Mahomes-to-Kelce-to-Kadarius-Toney touchdown, which momentarily gave the Chiefs the lead over the Buffalo Bills with just over a minute remaining in Sunday’s game, was negated because of an offensive offsides infraction called on Toney.

Taking away the touchdown led to Mahomes having an outburst on the sideline that included a few expletives and smashing a helmet. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid also said the call was embarrassing for the NFL.
The Bills held on to win the game, which may prove to be critical in a tight AFC playoff race, after the negated touchdown.
Mahomes’ anger seemed to not only stem from losing the game, but having a close friend and colleague robbed of a highlight-reel moment because of a simple and costly mistake.
Replays did show Toney’s right foot nearly a yard offside at the time the ball was hiked to Mahomes.

‘That’s a Hall of Fame tight end making a Hall of Fame play that won’t be shown because [the officials] threw a flag for offensive offsides,’ Mahomes said.
‘It takes away from, not only this game, this season, but from a legendary career that Travis has had,’ Mahomes continued. ‘That hurts me because I know how hard he works for it.’
Kelce’s night will likely have taken a turn for the better after the game though, as he was pictured leaving hand-in-hand with girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The pop superstar jetted in to Kansas City to see Kelce just days before her 34th birthday on Wednesday, as the pair’s relationship continues to go from strength to strength.
